Compare And Contrast (An Occasional Series)
In these confusing and mysterious times, it's sometimes hard to see which of the two main Parties will form the next government. After all, the Tories are only ahead by about +20 points in the polls, so there's nothing to worry about, is there Gordoom? And Harriet is your friend too.
Compare and contrast who news reports; the first from the Telegraph: "Gordon Brown has lost it, say ministers"
"Labour is heading for an election defeat as heavy as that suffered by John Major because Gordon Brown has lost control of the parliamentary party, two senior Cabinet ministers have privately warned. The Prime Minister was forced to surrender in his battle to reform MPs’ expenses yesterday after backbenchers threatened to defy his authority for the second time in two days.
The retreat was announced to avert another humiliating loss in the Commons, only 24 hours after the Government was defeated over the right of Gurkhas to live in Britain."
And from the BBC, who give staggeringly give us exactly the same story as "MPs Back Allowance Reform Plans"
"The government has won a series of votes on planned MPs' expenses reforms, after it agreed to delay a decision on controversial second homes allowances.
During a heated Commons debate many MPs called for all changes to be left until after an inquiry into the system ends.
But plans were passed to stop Greater London MPs claiming for second homes, for receipts to back up all claims and details of second jobs to be published.
Gordon Brown called these the "biggest changes in 25 years" to expenses."
The BBC is breathtaking. Keeping reading the BBC from the bunker, Gordoom. Don't worry, those armies your generals are pushing around on that map really do exist.
